Few sights in America are as widely recognized as the Hollywood sign and the view of the exclusive homes that dot the surrounding hills.  The film industry has been shooting movies in the Hollywood Hills for generations, and visitors often cite a sense of deja-vu because this area is so enmeshed in cinematic references.  The Hollywood Hills is where you'll find grand homes perched on the hillside above the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, many featuring those iconic, sweeping views of the city.

Sunset Boulevard runs along the southern boundary of the Hollywood Hills, and it is known for its posh restaurants, nightclubs, bars, and comedy clubs.  Excellent shopping can be found in this as well.  This is where you're likely to rub elbows with famous faces, many of whom live in the area immediately north of the Sunset Strip, as this area has a large number of stylish, modern homes with incredible views.  The famous Mulholland Drive serves as the neighborhood's northern boundary, and nearby landmarks include the Hollywood Bowl and Griffith Observatory, to the east.

While the western part of the Hollywood Hills is closer to the glitz and glamour of the Sunset Strip and West Hollywood, the eastern part is closer to more intimate, eclectic neighborhoods like Los Feliz and Franklin Village.  This is also where some of the best hiking in Los Angeles can be found; Runyon Canyon Park affords magnificent city views, and Bronson Canyon-Griffith Park allows hiking up to the Hollywood sign.  The Hollywood Reservoir's 3-mile perimeter is perfect for walking and jogging. Typically you'll find more of the historic, Old Hollywood-style homes in the eastern part of the Hollywood Hills.  This includes sections such as Whitley Heights, Beachwood Canyon, and Outpost Estates.

Schools in the eastern Hollywood Hills area include Cheremoya Avenue Elementary, Selma Avenue Elementary, Hollywood Senior High, and Immaculate Heart High, a private all-girls school.  The western Hollywood Hills area is served by Gardner Street Elementary, Larchmont Charter School, and Fairfax Senior High.  The Pacific Hills School is located in nearby West Hollywood, and the acclaimed Harvard-Westlake School is in nearby Studio City.  Commuting from the Hollywood Hills to Downtown or Century City takes as little as 10 to 15 minutes.  Without a doubt, the Hollywood Hills will forever be an exclusive and highly sought-after place to live.
